Tying the Tagalong

The Tagalong

The Tagalong got its name being tied initially as a dropper fly behind Poppers. Originally intended for Bluegills (which it excels wonderfully at), it has since proven itself on all waters. However, behind a popper along the lily pad edges remains it's home.

Tying the Firehole Streamer

The Firehole Streamer

The Firehole streamer was given to me in the early 90's by a fisherman along the Nisqually River in Western Washington, upon finding out that I was brand new to the Northwest fly fishing world. His insistence was that it was the top performer in his box for Sea-run cutthroat. My experience proved him to be right, and down the road it proved to be a very effective streamer for trout everywhere. The pattern and name is exactly what was provided to me at the time.

WINTER TROUT 2015

The 6th Annual Gathering

This years winterfest was greeted with overcast skies and a balmy 28 degrees. The hardest part of the morning was rigging as the fingers adjusted to the cold.

Last minute prep and deciding out who goes upstream and who heads down.

Ron scores first!

Doug scores upstream as well. Two nice rainbow brought to hand and the mornings still new!

Chris hooks up with a beautiful Bow!  A 20 minute and very memorable fight.

Does it get any better?

Doing my best to keep the little guys occupied.

Awesome Colors!

Doug hooks up again downstream with the biggest brown of the day.

Jim hooks up with the big fish of the day!

Thanks for all the help!

Both these guys would smile if they could, But neither of them can feel their feet.

A great day on the water with new friends made and memories created. 2015 was kicked off with "Fish on!"

Tying the Tully Caddis Emerger

The Tully Caddis Emerger

The TCE first broke the surface on the Tulpehocken in Central Pennsylvania, and has been going strong for several years now. It has been an excellent prospecting pattern for me, akin to what the Adams is to the dry fly.
